Mixing of the album has begun

We’ve just started mixing the album. It’s a stage that the public rarely sees and that isn’t often talked about, even though it’s what determines the final form of the record.

Mixing, in a nutshell

Each instrument and each vocal track has been recorded separately. Mixing involves bringing them together into a single, coherent whole: balancing the levels, positioning each sound in the mix, and deciding what comes to the fore and what stays in the background. It’s a balancing act, and it takes a long time – much longer than you’d imagine before you start.

The end result is a stereo file – the one everyone will listen to.

And then?

Next comes mastering, the final stage before production. We’ll explain what that involves when the time comes – one thing at a time.
