TidyMess covers ‘La Cause’ by Grand Corps Malade, Ben Mazué and Gaël Faye

In April 2023, TidyMess posted a cover of ‘La Cause’, by Grand Corps Malade, Ben Mazué and Gaël Faye, on their YouTube channel.

Why this song?

The track poses a question the duo often ask themselves: should an artist take a stand on this or that issue? And do we ever feel quite legitimate in doing so? It was this very doubt, as much as the melody, that made them want to tackle it.

The question didn’t remain purely theoretical. TidyMess have since written ‘L’intimidé’, about bullying; ‘Touche pas à ça’, about women’s right to choose the kind of motherhood that suits them; and ‘Nature morte’, about violence against women.

TidyMess’s covers

The duo regularly posts covers on their channel, alongside their original songs. That same year, they uploaded ‘Casting’, by Christophe Maé.
